The Munster Motor Cycle Club Rally Kenmare

Over the Past 35 years the Munster Motor Cycle and Car Club have organised a
National Vintage and Veteran Motorcycle Rally. For a number of years the yearly event is based
in the Kenmare Bay Hotel from where the organised tours start.
From 1979 Kenmare has been a favourite with the rally people but more so today
because this hotel has the room and the parking facilities they need.

You can come across the vintage
motorcycles on the ring of Kerry and Bearra,
around Kenmare, Sneem, Waterville and Bantry usually in late August.
It is not a race but a rally, awards are given
for the condition and appearance of the motorcycles
with penalties for failing to report at various
controls or being over the time limit set.

It is a colourful event with almost 200 competitors and supporters who are all in love with their machines.
On Monday 22nd to 27th of August, 2005 the rally will touchdown again and
a variety of motors can be found in front of the hotel.

It's amazing how well the bikes are kept,
they are shined and polished, chrome
blinking and tires deep black.
All the competitors are friends and
help each other with their bike problems.
There are always problems but they are always solved.

The competitors are Irish, French , German, Danish, Swiss, Canadian,
English and American, all with one thing on their mind " my old bike "

This year a "Miss Bike" was chosen, being short of women a German member
"Miss" Derek Hutteman was the overall winner !
