Holly Cross Church R.C.
Holly Cross Church was consecrated in 1864.
It was built by Fr. John O'Sullivan who is buried in front
of Our Lady's altar. The Architect was Charles Hansom.
It is locally believed that Fr. O'Sullivan topped the spire
of the church with a cock to crow over the local landlord's
agent, whose office was in the Square and had refused him
a site for the church.

The most notable internal features of the building are
the ornate chancel, the organ and the carved roof
( the wood for which from the Block Forest in Germany ).
The Stations of the Cross were presented by
Sr. M.F.Cusack ( The Nun of Kenmare )

St.Patricks Church
is the principal church in the Union of Kenmare and Dromod, a
parish which extends from Kilgarvan, 11 km east of Kenmare through
Sneem, Caherdaniel, Waterville and Valentia to Cahirsiveen
and has 4 churches. As the churches are the only ones in the area
which are not Roman Catholic, the congregation includes
Presbyterians, Methodists, Lutherans and others as well as Anglicans.
St Patrick’s church was consecrated and dedicated to St Patrick on
31 August 1858 to replace the church at Killowen (built in 1811),
the ruins of which can be seen 800 meters from the town to the right of the Kilgarvan road.
